The Journey To (K)Now
I've been fortunate to meet a lot of people in and out of the newsroom and studios and share a lot of great experiences with many who I now call friends. Here are just a handful of the moments which have been a part of my journey.
2023 NATAS NEWS & DOC AWARDS - NEW YORK CITY
In the summer of 2023, I was awarded the NATAS Mike Wallace Memorial Scholarship which was created by CBS. As a result, I was invited to the 44th Annual NATAS News & Doc Awards at the Palladium Theatre in NYC and presented the award by CBS Evening News national anchor Norah O'Donnell. I was then allowed to address those in attendance and spent the evening conversing with many of our country's great journalists.
2023 NATAS NSPA NEWS REPORT-SERIOUS NEWS AWARD
In February 2024, NATAS announced winners for their 2023 National Student Production Awards via livestream and during the broadcast I was awarded the NSPA for News Report-Serious News.

In February 2024, NATAS announced winners for their 2023 National Student Production Awards via livestream and during the broadcast CPTV News was awarded the NSPA for Newscast.
WORKING ALONGSIDE NBC5 CHICAGO'S LAUREN PETTY
In January 2024 I used my White House press credentials to cover First Lady Dr. Jill Biden's trip to Chicago where she unveiled the White House's Initiative on Women's Health Research at the University of Illinois Chicago. Biden was joined by Academy Award winning actress Halle Berry who has long been an advocate of more women's health research. I was fortunate that day to work alongside NBC5 Chicago's Health & Wellness reporter Lauren Petty who generously spent part of her day teaching me about reporting news in the great city of Chicago.
2023 IHSPA WITH CHICAGO SPORTS JOURNALIST DAVID HAUGH
In winter of 2023, I had the pleasure of introducing Chicago journalist turned on-air radio and TV personality David Haugh as the keynote speaker at the Indiana High School Press Association annual convention. I've been fortunate to have a front row seat the last 8 years in learning how to effectively cover sports in a big city by observing the work of Haugh, who was a longtime columnist for the Chicago Tribune and is currently cohost of the Mulley & Haugh Show at WSCR and host of Football Night in Chicago on NBC Sports.
2022 IHSPA WITH ABC WORLD NEWS TONIGHT'S LINSEY DAVIS
At IHSPA's 2022 annual convention, I had the incredible opportunity to hear ABC World News Tonight's weekend anchor Linsey Davis speak and then talk with her afterwards. We spoke about working for network news and the work involved in covering and reporting international news
2022 NATAS CHICAGO/MIDWEST SILVER CIRCLE AWARDS
Lead 2022 CPTV News senior anchor team Chris Gloff, Rocco Jann, Madeline Degenhart & Claire Patena attend the NATAS Silver Circle Awards at the Knickerbocker Hotel in Chicago to receive a total of four Crystal Pillar awards in the Talent (Gloff & Jann tied), News Report-Serious News and Newscast categories. This was an incredible experience to share with my friends and to be among many members of the Chicago news media.

2022 IASB AWARDS FOR BEST NEWSCAST, BEST SPORTSCAST & BEST SPOT PRODUCTION
I'm grateful to have been recognized for newscasting, sportscasting and spot production. The previous year I had worked tirelessly on a PSA called, "Words Hurt." I was excited to compete but didn't place. That experience taught me the importance of developing and adapting my voice to fit different tones whether it be for news, sports and various radio production spots.
