QUICKCUT NEWS PACKAGE ON "PARENTS WANT SCHOOL POLICY REVERSED" - aired during CPTV NEWS QUICKCUT NEWSCAST on DECEMBER 3, 2021
This package is regarding parents of a neighboring school corporation requesting a Superior Court to reverse the corporation's mask mandate policy in favor of a "masks optional" policy. At this time, the COVID Omicron variant was starting to quickly spread, and 600 CPHS students were quarantined. I felt this piece was necessary for a divided audience regarding mask policies. I wanted to learn and present unbiased information regarding local health data and mask policies. In the end, our program was questioned by administrators because I featured an interview of a subject they believed was publicly attacking the corporation's policy.

Segments like these are necessary in our communities and challenge student journalists to stay strong, yet respectful, when questioning adults. Only through the consistent and continual presentation of fair and unbiased stories will we be able to earn back the trust of news consumers.
